Purity is peace
Purity means "freedom from anything that pollutes." To have a pure mind, heart, and soul, is to be free of guilt and free of evilness; but to have cleanliness and innocence.
Where there's purity there's peace.
We deal with people on a daily basis. We deal with situations and responsibilities on a daily basis. We deal with things that really have nothing to do with us on a daily basis. Whether we like it or not, we have to face new things everyday. We also deal with the same things everyday. Then we just get turned off by all of it. All of these "things" can settle in our minds as impure thoughts. Impure thoughts of hatred, lust, jealousy, and strife. Our thoughts then dictate our moods and how we treat people. Then this creates conflicts and trials; the cycle continues.
The words we speak come from the heart. Our thoughts are driven by our emotions, sometimes doubt and fear. There is this constant battle in the mind to keep it occupied with ideas, lists of duties, ambitions, hopes, dreams, and disappointments.
But I say: settle your mind; train your mind. Holding on to nasty thoughts will just bring you down, feeling lost and alone. Open yourself up to someone, express how you're feeling, or share what you're thinking. Breaking out of the comfort zone and speaking the truth, but in a tasteful way, will bring that peace, because you'll get understanding.
Peace settles the mind, it settles the heart, and it settles your soul.
I used to reject peace all the time. I wanted the stress of hard work and the stress of drama which for me was a reminder that I actually had relationships. But it then became overwhelming and I couldn't even think. I've learned you don't need to carry so many thoughts or burden yourself with stress. We can let go of the load and wear an easy yoke.
A yoke is a wooden harness that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull. When we carry the burdens that we all face, the yoke is heavy; we can barely move forward or hold it up!
Matthew 11:30 says "Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light." How amazing! How relieving! What great relief!
Take off the burden, let go of the load. Give it to God; He can handle it and give you the strength that you need to then carry his yoke that is easy and light -- that's the burden you should carry.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
— Philippians 4:8
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
— Romans 12:2
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
— 2 Timothy 2:22
