You Are Not Forgotten

Loneliness hovers over each and every one of us at some time or another. Possibly, there are more cases of loneliness right now compared to any other ordinary given day. It's when we feel lonely the enemy plays tricks in my minds to believe God is far from us as well. I'm here to tell you: that is a lie.

God is not far from His people. He is Emmanuel -- God with us.
He has not forgotten His people, even when it feels that way sometimes. Hagar thought she was alone in the desert during her journey with Ishmael (after being sent out by Abraham). She thought her son was going to die, so to keep herself from hearing his cries she set him under a shrub and walked away. She didn't cry for help, she felt defeated. But God was with her and her son (keeping His promise to Abraham that He would look after his seed). He heard the voice of her son. An angel of God then visited her and reaffirmed God's promise to her that He will make Ishmael a great nation. He opened her eyes to see that there was water in the desert. Sometimes we forget to cry out to Him because we know He sees us and is aware of what's happening. But He waits to hear our cry. Our cries move His heart to come.

The only thing God can forget is our sin once we are forgiven (Hebrews 8:12).

God will never forget us. We are on His mind always. He has so many thoughts toward us, how can He ever forget us?

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.
Psalm 139:17-18

Jesus wore a crown of thorns on the cross; pain was on the forefront of His mind. He will always remember our pain -- our pain is on His mind. Just as we remember what He did for us on the cross, He remembers the sacrifice, He remembers the pain He endured -- our pain.
