Understanding women

Women are known to be complicated creatures. I can name a few girls who say they have more guy friends than girl friends; they think women are full of drama and are just unpleasant to be around.

Just because you're a woman does not mean you can understand all types of women. We're all so different; we're each individuals with different tastes, goals, and ideas of fun.

Instead of bringing each other down or trying to change one another, why not celebrate each other's differences?


I used to conform to the ways of different women or girls around me when I was younger. I thought the only way I could be liked was if I was like everyone else. But the truth always comes to light and I remember a couple of my friends got a hold of note I wrote that expressed these feelings. They confronted me about it confused that I felt this way and filled me with truth, that I didn't have to pretend to be someone else, that they liked me for me.

I believed this imaginary idea that I couldn't be myself. Thankfully, that was a long time ago and I don't feel that way anymore.

Now I strive to understand women as I learn to understand myself. I surprise myself everyday and must always refer to the Bible for understanding. I also observe other women and learn just how unique we all are. Of course, you find cliques or groups where they all seem alike, but they each bring something different.

Just like in the movie Mean Girls, they had the same values and tastes, but their personalities were very different. They all felt led to conform to a certain way of being or to live up to a certain standard, but their personalities couldn't be more obvious.

Our differences can inspire one another. Sometimes we can confuse inspiration with jealousy. We feel we need to be like the other exactly, or think like the other. Or we want what we don't have because we see how well it works for another. Switch gears, look at it as inspiration.

It's like we can't handle the beauty in front of us. Another's beauty is something to cherish and admire. 

We are stronger and smarter together. We make a good team, we can build an idea into reality. Like women entrepreneurs or team leaders, they have a unique brand that's beautiful, smart, and fun (like most of us women are ;)

Don't run away from different women or be intimidated. They can be the inspiration you need.
