You can do a lot with a little

Pinterest: a place where dreams are born, but so is depression. Pinterest is a great tool for finding ideas for your home, cooking recipes, outfit ideas, and even articles on how to make your life easier, but it also showcases what you don’t have, what you can’t afford, and what you find impossible to have.

We name our Pinterest boards dreams: our “dream home,” “dream garden,” or “dream closet,” just to name a few. It’s like we believe our boards are only dreams that we can have in an ideal world. But if it’s not a dream, it’s set aside for our future. We believe we can only have things in the future, that what we have now is not enough, we can’t have our "dream home" in our small apartment. Instead, we post what we don’t have and stay in a dream state of mind. But I say, why not have your "dream home" now?

Sometimes we feel like we have to wait in order to be happy with what we have. It’s like we believe we can’t live comfortably or happily because we don’t have that dream house with high ceilings and big windows.

If you’re unhappy with your current situation you can change it up and work to get what you want, but don’t let it control your mind. Don’t let ideas ruin your happiness.

I look at Pinterest as a site to get inspiration and ideas and I find ways that I can have those things now. I may not have a walk-in closet but thank God I have a closet! Thank God I have items to put in my closet. I make do with what I have and those perfect organized closets I pinned to my “Ideas” board can be utilized now.

The Bible says when God sees that we can be trusted with little, He then knows we can be trusted with a lot. Make the most of what "little" you have. Get ideas to plan for the future but also practice those ideas now. Tomorrow is promised to no one, so don't waste your time "saving things" for the future.

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that  city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
— James 4:13-15

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
— Proverbs 27:1

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
—  Luke 16:10
