The Inner Battle with Faith

Keeping one’s faith in Christ is a battle sometimes. You fight against your flesh, who is tired of being disappointed. It’s a battle to keep the faith, a battle to still believe, a battle to hold on to God, but keep fighting. I am fighting my flesh. I am fighting against what the world says about hope. I am fighting against the imaginary ideas of our future that are just based on worry.

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”
Galatians 5:17

It takes so much courage and strength to persevere life’s trials with faith. It’s because it can be so hard to remain faithful that God rewards us for our belief in Him. Staying faithful in the midst of the waiting is so important and not wasted; it is worthy, especially in the Lord’s eyes. I try not to think ahead or try to imagine the blessings that the Lord has for me because I know I wouldn’t be able to compare to them, my mind wouldn’t be able to comprehend an inch of how He works, which makes me smile.

God is loyal and He is grateful for our faith. He doesn’t have this ego that He feeds off of us following Him, He cares about us having intimate relationships with Him. And so, when we’re faithful, when we trust in Him, when we believe in Him He shows love back and He graciously blesses us. How great it is to have God on our side!

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
   bind them around your neck;
   write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success
   in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
   and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
   and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
   fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
   and refreshment to your bones.”
Proverbs 3:3-8

“But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,
‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
   nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him’ —
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God”
1 Corinthians 2:7-11

“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” Matthew 25:21
