Right time and place

People are where they need to be. We were born into this time and place for a reason. People may feel like they were born in the wrong century or in the wrong country, but I don't think so. I believe we were all born into a certain time and place to make a difference. We weren't called to be followers or to be passive. We were created to be individuals, with unique minds and interests.

Reading the story of Joshua Wong blew me away. Here is a young man who stepped back, looked at his county's situation and instead of submitting to Hong Kong's lifestyle, he voiced his opposition. He didn't complain about his limited rights, he didn't keep it to himself, he didn't become apathetic; he became angry. He knew the power of one's voice and he created a student protest group, Scholarism, to encourage this generation to make a change.

Joshua Wong is an example of an individual that stood out. He was disturbed by the politics in Hong Kong and, despite his age, voiced his opinion. He should be an inspiration to all of us, like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and more extraordinary individuals that noticed that something was wrong, that things weren't moving the way they should be.

We can easily live in fear and follow the majority. But if there's something in you that doesn't sit well, you know you have to trust your gut. That feeling is the Holy Spirit; it's stirring up your spirit to notice that something is not right.

You weren't born into the wrong place or time, God doesn't make mistakes, so He placed you where you need to be. You could have been placed somewhere to save someone's life, to make a change, to inspire or to be the light in someone's life of darkness.

Imagine if Joshua Wong was born in a later time, or in a different country? This generation in China probably wouldn't have grown stronger and braver to fight in what they believe in.

For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
—  Ephesians 2:10

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and endurance.
—  Hebrews 6:12
